Recently I woke up at the ridiculous hour of 4am LOOPING on the fact I haven’t yet gotten the movers to pay for the damn sticky tape residue they left on my 1856 antique credenza.
LOOPING. Again… and again… and again…
“I’ve procrastinated on this for 3 months! Will they say, ‘Too late slow-poke!’…
I didn’t like the antique restorers I talked to – who will I get?!…
I’ve GOT to get ON this! I hate this stuff!”
Blah, blah, blah, LOOP.
Looping can snag us on the BIG stuff (ie, “I’m a loser and everything I try turns out sh*t”).
And looping can snag us on the LITTLE stuff (see above).
Once we’re looped, we’re SUNK.
• We can’t sleep.
• We devalue ourselves.
• We become Expert Complainers – and wear out our friendships with low-vibe negative conversations.
• We blame other people for everything. (Then secretly we blame ourselves for everything).
• We get exhausted, out of sorts, unproductive, eat and drink too much, hold grudges for decades, and get constipated.
As I said at the beginning:
What to do about it?
De-Loop. And then de-loop again and again.
In fact, you could say: “LOOP on de-looping.” Now THAT’S a great idea!
Let me ask you this:
• Is there something that wakes you up at night? A worry, concern, or a problem with seemingly no solution?
• Are you exhausted from looping on a painful memory or anxious future?
